studio owners lounge S2 Ep 1

Episode 1: Successfully Working In and On Your Business

While on break between seasons, Caroline, Erica, and their whole team have been working hard on Studio Owner Solutions, our online subscription site. Between modules on taxes, payroll, and budgeting, you’ll learn how to better run your business. To grow, thrive, and build a legacy!

In this episode, we share how, yes, you can be working in and on your business effectively! You just need a good plan. Look forward to the future, and start dreaming of what you want your studio to look like. Be intentional about making what you see happen. You live your studio season, and your life calendar revolves around dance. Because of this, most studio owners don’t have a written plan, which can lead to overwork and eventually burnout.

Make a plan that’s not just for you, but for your teachers, admins, etc. Pull back from studio life, and really look at what’s ahead. Bring that view into focus, capture details, and break it down into weekly or daily steps. Run it so well, that your only role is being the boss.

Write down all you’ll be doing within each month and categorize it. Involve your team, and include all that’s being done by them as well. From there, you can turn the details into action. If you don’t have this ‘master calendar’ you may be the only one aware of all of the happenings of your studio. The load will remain on you, and you won't be able to pull back.

The actions in this calendar, and the systems you put in place should be repeatable. Plug and play! Each person that takes something on may even want to build their own calendar. Create job descriptions, and make sure your employees have a clear understanding of what’s expected of them. Create the framework, build the calendar, and delegate tasks.

You don’t want to see your creativity be hindered because of the load you’re bearing. At Studio Owner’s Lounge, we want you to succeed and we believe in you!
